Overview

What is Vora?

Vora is a unified API that gives compliance teams and developers instant, programmatic access to financial regulatory enforcement and licensing data from 50+ federal sources.

The Problem We're Solving

Compliance professionals are required to monitor regulatory enforcement actions, sanctions, and license statues on an ongoing basis. Today, that means manually checking dozens of disconnected government portals - FinCEN, CFPB, OCC, the Federal Reserve, and more. The process is slow, error-prone, and impossible to automate.

Our Solution

Vora aggregates, normalizes, and serves that data through a single REST API. One call returns structured, up-to-date records from all sources - no scraping, no manual lookups, no custom integrations.

Who It's For

Vora is built for two primary audiences:

  1. Compliance teams at banks and FinTechs who need to monitor counterparties and stay ahead of regulatory actions.
  2. Developers and engineers building compliance workflows, internal tools, or RegTech products who need reliable data infrastructure they don't have to maintain themselves.

The Problem

Current Pain Points for Compliance Teams

Compliance professionals are required to continuously monitor regulatory activity across multiple federal agencies. In practice, this mm means:

  • Manual portal checks - analysts visit 5+ government websites individually, each with different layouts, search interfaces, and data formats.
  • No automation - government portals are built for human browsing, not programmatic access. There is no API, no webhook, no feed.
  • Inconsistent data - each agency structures its data differently, making it nearly impossible to run unified searches or build reliable reports.
  • Stale information - without automated monitoring, enforcement actions can go unnoticed for days or weeks
  • High analyst overhead - a task that should take seconds routinely takes hours per week per analyst

Why Existing Solutions Fall Short

The tools that exist today either don't solve the core problem or are out of reach for most teams:

  • Manual processes - spreadsheets and calendar reminders are still the norm at most firms
  • Enterprise RegTech platforms - products like LexisNexis or Thomson Reuters offer compliance data, but they are expensive, slow to integrate and not build for developers.
  • DIY scraping - some engineering teams build their own scrapers, but maintaining them as government portals change is a full-time job

The Solution

What Vora Is

Vora is REST API that aggregates and normalizes financial regulatory data from federal government sources into a single, consistent interface. Instead of visiting multiple portals, a compliance team or developer makes one API call and gets back clean, structured data.

How It Works

Vora runs scheduled ingestion jobs that pull data from federal sources on a regular cadence. That data is normalized into a unified schema and stored in Vora's database. Developers query it through standard REST endpoints using an API key.

  • Data is always fresh - ingestion runs daily or weekly depending on the soruce.
  • Data is always consistent - every record follows the same schema regardless of where it came from.
  • Data is always traceable - every record includes the original source URL so it can be verified.

Core Value Proposition

Vora turns a multi-hour manual compliance workflow into a single API call. It saves analyst time, enables automation, and gives developers the data infrastructure to build compliance products without maintaining their own scraping pipelines.

What Vora Is Not

Vora is a data API - it surfaces regulatory information but does not make compliance decision. It does not tell you whether to approve or reject a counterparty. That logic lives in your system. Vora just gives you the data to make that call.

Target Users

Compliance Analyst

A compliance professional at a bank, fintech, or financial services firm responsible for monitoring counterparties, screening new customers, and staying on top of regulatory activity. They currently spend hours each week on manual portal checks. Vora gives them a faster, more reliable way to do that work - or eliminated it entirely by letting their engineering team automate it.

Compliance Engineer

A developer or engineer at a fintech or RegTech company building automated compliance workflows, internal tooling, or data pipelines. They need reliable, structured regulatory data but don't want to build and maintain their own scrapers. Vora is their data layer.

RegTech Vendor

A B2B software company building compliance products for banks or fintechs. They need regulatory data as an ingredient in their own product. Vora let's them embed that data without owning the infrastructure behind it.

Who Vora Is Not Built For

  • Individual consumers looking up their own records
  • Legal teams seeking case research tools
  • Companies that need real-time sanctions screening - That is a future vertical, not mvp1.

Key Features

Search and filter regulatory enforcement actions across all connected federal sources — FinCEN, CFPB, OCC, and the Federal Reserve — from a single endpoint.

License Status Lookup

Query active and historical licensing data for regulated entities across all 50 states via NMLS.

Multi-Source Coverage

Every endpoint returns data from all connected sources by default. Customers can filter by source, action type, date range, and entity name.

Scheduled Data Ingestion

Vora automatically pulls fresh data from all sources on a regular cadence. No manual refresh required.

API Key Authentication

Simple, secure access via API keys. No OAuth flows, no complex setup.

What's Out of Scope

The following list is out of scope for Vora

  • KYC decisioning - Vora surfaces data but does not make approve/reject recommendations
  • Legal advice - Vora is a data tool, not a compliance advisory service
  • Consumer records - Vora is not build for individuals looking up their own records.

Success Looks Like

For Compliance Teams

A compliance analyst can check the regulatory history of any entity in seconds instead of hours. Manual portal checks are eliminated or reduced to edge cases.

For Developers

A developer can integrate Vora into a compliance workflow in under a day. The API is predictable, well-documented, and requires no custom parsing or source-specific logic.

For the Business

  • 3 paying customers within 3 months of launch
  • 10 paying customers within 6 months of launch
  • Zero customers churning due to data quality or reliability issues

The Bigger Picture

Vora becomes the default data infrastructure layer for compliance teams and RegTech builders who need regulatory data without the overhead of maintaining it themselves.
